Log Home Services
Chinking is another of the most important parts of log home maintenance. Proper chinking seals gaps in the log structure; and not only keeps water and other damaging entities from entering the structure but also helps to seal in air to reduce your heating and cooling costs.

Ideally chinking is applied at the joints between every log, but this varies from home to home depending on the type of logs or siding.

Proper chinking can have a drastic effect on the heating and cooling costs of a log home. There may be numerous gaps between logs that cannot be seen but are constantly allowing airflow. Chinking can almost entirely eliminate this problem.
